Arquivo Portos de Lisboa, Setúbal e Sesimbra
The purpose of the Archives of the Lisbon, Setúbal and Sesimbra Ports is to provide remote access to the intellectual memory of these Port Authorities.
These Archives consist of documents dating from the 19th century to the present time (photographs, publications), concerning the activity of the ports of Lisbon, Setúbal and Sesimbra.
These are unique documents that have lasted through the years and that allow us to understand the evolution of the port activity and of the Tagus and Sado estuaries’ riverfronts.
With a high informative, historical and cultural value, this collection gives a clear view of the importance of the Ports of Lisbon, Setúbal and Sesimbra in cultural and social terms, allowing an integrated vision about its own legacy, history and heritage.

The Libraries of the Lisbon, Setúbal and Sesimbra Ports are technical libraries specialized in ports and maritime transport, which offer a service open to the whole community and play a fundamental role in collecting, organizing and disseminating information. It also has the responsibility to defend and preserve the memory and history of the port activity in the Tagus and Sado estuaries.
Its access, reading and reference services are free, however the loan of its collection is only allowed to the employees of the Port Authorities of Lisbon, Setúbal and Sesimbra.
